What is Trustmark?
The TrustMark scheme has been set up to safeguard the
interests of the consumer who may be trying to select a quality
approved tradesperson to carry out work in their home. TrustMark
provides a list of assessed and approved contractors to work on
domestic properties. The scheme was launched to the public in
January 2006 and AJA Registrars were proud to be one of the
first scheme operators to be approved. This means that we can
offer you a list of companies that have met the standards of the
scheme, and have been checked for the following:
-
Technical competence in their
particular trade checked by 'on site '
assessments
-
That they offer clear
details of the work being to be undertaken
to include specification, materials to be
used, price, payment method and timescale
-
Compliance with the law on
health, safety and waste disposal issues
-
That the company are
financially sound and have adequate public
liability insurance
-
That the company offer
assistance with building control issues
-
That they offer the
opportunity to purchase of insurance to
cover ceasing to trade, defective
workmanship. This insurance is provided,
when prepayment forms part of the contract
-
That they have a functional
complaints process backed up by a low cost
complaints resolution service in the event
of the contractor being unable to resolve
the complaint satisfactorily.
